Ufuk Yeşil
Chairperson of the Board
Ufuk Yeşil is a social media specialist, film director, and civil society volunteer with over 7 years of experience in communication and creative production. A graduate of Kadir Has University, Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, Yeşil specializes in digital media strategies, creative content production, and the coordination of rights-based projects. As the Chairperson of the Board of Leyli Sanat Association, which he founded in 2018, he leads programs focused on social transformation through art, freedom of expression advocacy, and capacity building. The experience he gained at Habitat Association and SES Equality and Solidarity Association reinforces his expertise in communication and project management. Leveraging a creative perspective nurtured by his cinema background, he continues to steer the association's production, impact, and visibility initiatives.
AYSEL NAZLI ÇOMU
Vice Chairperson of the Board
Aysel Nazlı Çomu graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Pharmacy, and actively practices her profession. Complementing her education in cultural heritage and tourism, she deepens her interest in art history, philosophy, and mythology throughout her academic journey. Hiking, trekking routes, and exploring ancient cities hold a significant place in her life. Serving as a writer for SİYAH E-Magazine, Çomu conducts interviews with artists from the "Sesimiz Ol" Platform; within Leyli Sanat Association, she undertakes the facilitation of the Freedom of Expression in Art Advocacy Program. Serving as the Vice Chairperson of the Board at the association, Çomu blends her conviction in the socially transformative power of art with the rich narratives of Greek mythology. She defines her journey with Thoreau's quote: “Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.”
MERVE TURUN
General Secretary of the Board
Merve Turun is a painter and art educator who graduated from Marmara University, Department of Fine Arts Education. Based in Istanbul, Turun shapes her artistic output around the axes of figure, color, and emotion; her work highlights the individual's psychological processes, internal experiences, and the emotional layers of daily life. Conducting creative art workshops for both children and adults, Turun structures each workshop with diverse techniques, offering participants the opportunity to explore their own spaces of expression. Free expression, experiential learning, and an accessibility framework lie at the core of her approach. As the General Secretary of Leyli Sanat Association, Turun supports project organization, communication, and the coordination of art events, playing an active role in executing initiatives aimed at bringing art to different age groups and communities. She maintains a balanced creative process between her personal productions and collective endeavors.
ERTUĞRUL EROL
Treasurer of the Board
Ertuğrul Erol was born and raised in Istanbul into a family of Black Sea origin. He leads a life that is, in his own words, "in limbo" between the urban landscape and the countryside. Despite his undergraduate education in the natural sciences, he has been working in the accounting sector for a long time. Harboring an interest in literature, classical Turkish music, handicrafts, and traditional arts since his primary school years, Erol has adopted a productive lifestyle by acquiring new hobbies over time. Polyphony, color, and cultural diversity are indispensable to him. He draws inspiration from a life that touches both nature and humanity. Serving as the Treasurer at Leyli Sanat Association, Erol continues to contribute to reinforcing the association's polyphonic structure.
İBRAHİM AKGÜN
Board Member
İbrahim Akgün, born in Istanbul in 1988, is an artist who, alongside his undergraduate degree in public relations, received musical training at the Üsküdar Music Society. Having produced works in both classical music and popular culture, Akgün has produced and hosted various television programs and honed his writing skills by working as a columnist for various media platforms. Within the association, he runs the "Teatime Chats" event series and the Songwriting Workshops.

Merve Gülmez
Born and raised in Kocaeli in 1995, Merve Gülmez graduated from Marmara University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Management in 2017. Driven by her aligning interests, she began working as a Social Media Specialist at a digital marketing agency during her undergraduate studies. Over time, she continued to develop her skills by receiving training in areas such as digital marketing, creative writing, and design, the foundations of which she laid at the agency. After gaining competencies in team leadership, organization, workflow planning, and human resource development during a brief tenure as a store manager, she returned to social media, which she considers her true domain. She became a Social Media Director in 2021 and a Creative Director in 2023. Since entering this field in 2015, she has produced content, formulated digital media strategies, and drafted projects for individuals and institutions across various sectors. She defines herself as a "Social Media Communicator," adding: “Though I have been ambitious and focused on the 'optimum' for as long as I can remember, even as a child, I would constantly read even the street signs. Who I am, my output, and my achievements are born of my fervor to read even what is left unwritten.”
Hayat Uğuzer
Hayat Uğuzer is a Psychology student at Haliç University, while also pursuing her studies in Human Resources Management at Istanbul University to further her academic and professional development. Her strong focus on human behavior, communication, and group dynamics actively guides her work within the fields of culture, art, and civil society.
Having initially joined Leyli Sanat Derneği through the "Volunteering in Art" program, Uğuzer gradually took on active leadership roles in the association’s youth initiatives. She currently serves as the Coordinator of the LEYLİ-DER Youth Network, leading the organization of engagement-driven events, most notably the "Tea Talks", and managing the publication workflows for the association's monthly newsletter.
Believing that art is a transformative realm that strengthens individual awareness and nourishes social solidarity, Uğuzer strives to foster inclusive, empowering spaces where young people can freely express themselves, co-create, and thrive together in solidarity.

Esmanur Baltacı
Esmanur Baltacı is a graduate of Istanbul Medipol University, Department of Industrial Design. Driven by her passion for design and dedication to her profession, she creates works centered on user experience, functionality, and aesthetic value. She views the design process not merely as a visual output, but as a realm of research, discovery, problem-solving, and developing meaningful solutions that touch human lives.
Exploring historical structures, discovering new cities, and observing different cultures serve as vital sources of inspiration that nurture Baltacı's design approach. While trekking, hiking, and her morning runs along the Golden Horn are indispensable elements of her daily routine, she also documents her personal experiences, travels, and reflections on design with a critical lens through her writing.
Within Leyli Sanat Association, she supports corporate communication processes as a Digital Media and Design Intern, contributing to the development of social media content, visual design assets, and digital communication activities.
Mehlika Nuran Gündoğmuş
Mehlika Nuran Gündoğmuş is an academic candidate, writer, and sworn scout who bridges her academic background in philosophy, gerontology, and recreation management with the transformative power of civil society. She channels her extensive, long-standing experience in voluntary youth work into individual and societal well-being by synthesizing it with her background as a professional yoga and creative drama instructor.
Centering mental and physical awareness, creative forms of expression, and social resilience within her interdisciplinary framework, Gündoğmuş is deeply interested in initiatives executed at the intersection of culture-arts, volunteerism, and social good.
Serving as a Project Development Intern within Leyli Sanat Association, she supports project development, grant applications, research, and project preparation pipelines, contributing directly to the association's initiatives focused on culture-arts and social transformation.
