Our Modern Arabic Workshop not only focuses on developing language skills but also provides participants with a deep understanding of Arabic culture and art. Spoken by over 400 million people across the Middle East and North Africa, Arabic is a language rich in history and cultural significance. The workshop is led by A. Çağlar Deniz, an expert in the Arabic and Ottoman languages. Born in Antep in 1980, Deniz completed his undergraduate studies at Selçuk University in Theology, earned his master’s degree from Gazi University and completed his PhD in Sociology at Istanbul University. Deniz has extensive experience teaching Arabic and Ottoman Turkish and has served as a visiting scholar and lecturer at universities in Turkey and abroad, including the University of Delaware and Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
In addition to his academic achievements, Deniz has contributed to several artistic and cultural projects and is known for his work in civil society, particularly in the areas of refugee rights and religious freedoms. His expertise in Arabic and Ottoman texts, as well as his work as an author and translator, make him a valuable guide for those learning the language. With Deniz’s leadership, participants will not only learn the language but also gain deep insights into Arabic culture and art.
